Air Tightness and Insulation
We market a comprehensive range of reflective insulation foil membranes as solutions to meet the increasingly stringent thermal insulation performance requirements for buildings (Building Regulations part L ). In addition to commercial construction & house building (both traditional & timber frame) foil radiant heat barriers are ideal solutions in many other areas including self build housing loft / attic conversions, extensions, and additionally other applications in agricultural livestock and poultry buildings.
Heat is transferred in 3 ways:
- Convection
- Conduction
- Radiation
Traditional insulation works by slowing down convection and conduction. However, radiant heat loss is a major factor in a buildings thermal efficiency accounting for up to 90% of heat lost through walls with only around 20% lost via convection and conduction. The more radiation is reflected the less heat is transferred – our foil membranes reflect more than 90% of radiated heat.
In addition to thermal insulation properties, a completely sealed foil membrane system provides a vapour barrier and assists greatly in achieving air tightness standards as air outflow is virtually eliminated.
Air Tightness Performance
- Improved insulation
- Reduced energy costs
- Reduced carbon dioxide emissions
Pre-compressed Sealant
Pre-compressed sealant is a perfect solution to many joint problems. The permanently elastic polyurethane foam provides a weatherproof seal and excellent air tightness performance to meet part L building regulation standards. Additionally, the pre-compressed sealant has good acoustic performance characteristics. Typical applications include:-
- Modular Building secitons
- Window & Façade Construction
- Prefabricated Sections
- Profiled Sheeting
- Underground Constructions
- Road Joints
We have a range of products to meet the requirements of both Modular Buildings and AV units
